A game of two halves: Aldershot Town 2, Maidenhead United 0

A game I couldn’t get to because of the high winds disrupting the south western rail network (whole trees on the line as well as leaves) saw goals from substitutes Harrison Panayiotou and Alfy Whittingham hand Aldershot Town a much-needed three points against Berkshire village outfit Maidenhead United. The visitors were so confident that they would win this one they brought almost their entire home support to the Recreation Ground with their words of “Aldershot get battered wherever they go” really working well for them. Even their local rag couldn’t get much right, saying Eyoma not Whittingham got our second … Continue reading A game of two halves: Aldershot Town 2, Maidenhead United 0

FULL-TIME: 0-0 90′ Mullings reaches the corner, heads it away and the referee blows his full-time whistle. 90′ (+1) The ball is initially cleared but the ball falls behind for another corner. 90′ There will be two minutes added time. 89′ Powell takes but Thomas does well to clear the danger. 88′ Great work from Powell and Panayiotou wins a free-kick in a dangerous position. ’86 Chorley 0 Ebbsfleet 4 (Morgan 86) ’78   Stead (Harrogate – handball) Very good turnout for midweek but really worried that our drummers are not going to games now plus haven’t heard any singing … Continue reading Boreham Wood 0, Aldershot Town 0

The Bitterest Pill: Harrogate Town 1, Aldershot Town 0

We didn’t deserve that. We really didn’t. Another set-piece conceded. Another goal conceded, worse than usual because we were left with little or no time to repair the damage. That is why, as the song goes, the bitterest pill is hard to swallow. Sure, we probably wouldnt have scored if we had played until the midnight hour (another Jam reference and there are more come – see how many you can spot). And we struggled to get our game together on the artificial surface. Harrogate were marginally the more adept team but had flattered to deceive all afternoon and … Continue reading The Bitterest Pill: Harrogate Town 1, Aldershot Town 0

FAC4Q: Bromley 4 Shots 3 – report and reaction

“I know it’s over and it never really began. But in my heart, it was so real”. Morrissey’s words poignant tonight as all of us will be saddened by today’s result and possibly the performance; we know that it was a real Jekyll and Hyde show first and second halves. But this defeat and the manner of the goals conceded has reissued the debate on manager Danny Searle. I have to write impartially here and weave together a piece that will present as concise and fair so, first the match report (from Kent Online), Jake Williams’ vlog and then selected … Continue reading FAC4Q: Bromley 4 Shots 3 – report and reaction

Shots 0 Hartlepool 3: Back down to earth after Tuesday…

I2:15pm Wasn’t taking any chances today with rail engineering work disruptions and a bus journey between Basingstoke and Woking. I’m on that now but the rain is still incessant. Someone on the forum said that the pitch looked fine… but that was two hours ago. 14:10pm Slow burner this so far as the crowd but they’re all in the boosters. Fair few away fans around too. What will we get? Somewhere around 2400 I reckon but would be delighted with more. This is what it’s all about anyway, Saturday afternoon, Aldershot, rain or shine. 14:33pm A few more in. THE … Continue reading Shots 0 Hartlepool 3: Back down to earth after Tuesday…

Chorley 0-0 Aldershot Town: A point gained but overall… ‘meh’

TIMELINE 00:30 – Woke up after posting on ShotsWeb hours earlier that today was in doubt due to a bug. The kind that keeps you in the bathroom. Pleased to say I feel a lot better and will likely stay awake from now. Are You Being Served? is on the radio as I write. It’s series 3 episode 6 and it’s wrongly listed on BCR as series 3 episode 3. It’s a classic episode where Grace Brothers have a German week. Sales are not going well. CAPTAIN PEACOCK: “Do I detect a feeling of anti Germans, Mrs. Slocombe?” MRS. SLOCOMBE: … Continue reading Chorley 0-0 Aldershot Town: A point gained but overall… ‘meh’
